Ways to volunteer
There are many ways to contribute to ALC-NYC. Here are some of the ways community members and friends have shared their time, skills, and expertise with us:
Propose an offering
Have an idea for a class, workshop, club, project, or one-time activity? Tell us what you’d like to offer, and we can see whether there’s student interest.
Share a skill or area of expertise
Let us know what you know and enjoy sharing. We sometimes look for people who can support students pursuing particular interests. Recent examples have included Spanish, piano and guitar, and sciences such as chemistry, biology, and environmental science.
Help with events and community projects
Pitch in with community events, cleaning and organizing days, repairs, setup, building projects, or other hands-on work around the space.
Support fundraising campaigns and events
Have a fundraising idea you’d like to propose, lead or help bring to life? Want to help plan or run an evening event at the school? Like to write grant applications?
Help welcome prospective families
Current ALC community members can help with admissions events or talk with prospective families who want to hear directly from a parent, student, or community member about their experience.
Share professional expertise
Offer professional services or let us know that you’re someone we can reach out to when particular needs arise. This might include expertise in areas such as law, finance, accounting, health and safety, communications, technology, design, or nonprofit operations.
