Community Agreements
ALC After School is a shared space. Students are expected to help make it safe, welcoming, and workable for everyone.
To be part of the community, we agree to:
- Treat ourselves, other people, and the space with care and respect.
- Respect other people’s boundaries. When someone says “stop,” stop. If you’re not sure what they are asking you to stop, ask. Facilitators are available to help when students need support navigating a situation.
- Take care of shared materials and spaces. Use furniture, equipment, art supplies, computers, and other resources responsibly.
- Clean up after ourselves and take part in end of day clean-up efforts.
- Respect our After School screen/device policies: Unless part of an offering or with a facilitator, non-ALC students are asked not to use ALC computers. Personal devices may be permitted during down time, policy dependent upon the offering and the facilitator leading it.
Conflict is a normal part of being in community, and facilitators will support students in working through problems when they arise. Physical aggression or other behavior that makes it unsafe for others to participate may require a student to leave for the day or take time away from the program before returning. Tuition will not be refunded or credited for time missed as a result of a behavioral or safety-related suspension from the program.
Arrival & Pick-Up
Please let us know as soon as possible if your child will arrive after 4:00 pm (3:45 pm on Tuesdays).
After School ends at 5:20 pm, and students must be picked up or dismissed by that time. Our facilitators need to close the space and leave the building by 5:30.
If an unexpected delay will prevent you from arriving by 5:20, please contact the day’s facilitator as soon as possible. We understand that occasional emergencies happen; repeated late pickups may result in a late fee or, if the problem continues, the student being unable to continue in the after-school program.
For day-of schedule changes or delays, please contact:
Monday: Caitlin — 917-817-4298
Tuesday & Thursday: Arthur — 551-697-0794
Wednesday: Isadora — 415-699-0317
If someone who is not listed as an authorized pick-up person on your child’s registration form will be picking them up, please let the day’s facilitator know in advance.
Illness
Please keep your child home when they have an illness that may be contagious or when they are not well enough to participate comfortably in the program. Students may return when they are well enough to participate and no longer pose a significant risk of spreading illness to others.
Registration & Payment
Families may pay semester tuition in full or in three installments. Families choosing an installment plan are responsible for making each payment by its due date. An invoice with payment instructions and due dates will be sent after registration.
Cancellations, Absences & Refunds
Before the semester begins: Families may cancel their registration for a full refund.
During the first two classes: We want students to have an opportunity to make sure a program is a good fit. Families who withdraw after either of the first two class meetings will be responsible only for the classes already attended, and any remaining tuition paid will be refunded.
After the first two classes: Registration is considered a commitment for the remainder of the semester, and tuition is nonrefundable.
Student absences: We do not provide refunds or credits for individual absences, including absences due to ordinary illness, travel, or scheduling conflicts. In the case of a significant illness, injury, or other circumstance that prevents a student from participating for an extended period, ALC may, at its discretion, offer a credit toward a future after-school program.
ALC cancellations: If ALC cancels a scheduled session because of weather, facilitator illness, building closure, or another circumstance, families will receive a prorated credit or refund for that session.
