Some questions:

• When you were a child, what did you dream of doing and becoming? What happened with those dreams over time? Are there threads between your interests then and your interests now?
• Do you remember becoming deeply interested in a topic (maybe dinosaurs…maybe a band, historical fiction novellas, or the make-believe adventures of a stuffed animal)? How did it feel when others appreciated or shared your expertise? How did it feel when you were interrupted or dismissed?
• Can you remember free play experiences with other kids? It’s common for kids to keep the play evolving so it can keep going even as participants and supplies change…and to disagree about whose version of a game’s “rules” will be used. How did you navigate these situations as a kid? What skills does it take to keep the play going in a diverse and changing group?
